How did your first day at Telekom begin, and what were your first impressions?

Laura: Right from the start - even in the parking lot - I noticed how well everything was organized: clear signage everywhere and many helpful people who greeted me with a smile. That immediately took away my initial nervousness. Once inside the building, I picked up my company badge and quickly met the other young professionals and fellow students.

Our study coordinator welcomed us warmly - which made it easy to start making connections and feel at home. A really nice surprise was that we all received a Telekom hoodie. I wasn’t expecting that at all - it was a small but thoughtful gesture that made the start even more pleasant.

What did you experience during the Welcome Day?

Laura: After all the young professionals in Bonn had gathered, the day kicked off with a live stream. That moment was really special to me: whether in Bonn, Berlin, Munich, or any other location – all young talents across Germany were part of it at the same time. For the first time, I truly felt that we are part of a large community.

There were several welcome videos, including one from the Board, and the hosts congratulated us on this new chapter and gave us a warm welcome. Afterwards, we had a joint lunch in a relaxed setting where we could get to know each other better and share our first stories - before moving on to our small groups in the afternoon.

Which parts of the program or activities did you enjoy most?

Laura: I was especially impressed by the live music - a singer performed several times and really lifted the mood. I also enjoyed hearing the experience reports from other young professionals, who gave us a glimpse into their everyday lives – that motivated me and made me curious. Another highlight was the interactive quiz, where we could actively participate.

In the afternoon, things became more playful: with various group activities, a relaxed atmosphere developed right away, bringing us closer together as a team. It also eased my fear of standing alone - I quickly realized that everyone was open and genuinely interested in getting to know each other.

How would you describe the Welcome Day in three words?

Laura: For me, the Welcome Day was: exciting, overwhelming, and comforting. I was particularly impressed by how smoothly such a large event was organized and how many people were involved. My initial nervousness quickly turned into real excitement - I felt welcome and well taken care of from the very first moment. At the end of the day, I didn’t just go home with a hoodie but also with many new impressions, contacts, and a big dose of anticipation. The Welcome Day was the kick-off - and I’m really looking forward to everything that awaits me in the coming months and years.
