Thorsten, what convinced you that Telekom provides a good environment for your daughter to start her career? 

“What convinced me most was my own experience. I have worked at Telekom with great enthusiasm for almost 30 years, and throughout that time I have consistently experienced the company as an employer that offers many opportunities to develop and explore new paths. 

For young people in particular, I believe Telekom’s size and diversity are especially valuable. There are so many different areas, roles, and development opportunities. At the beginning of a career, you do not have to commit to a single path. Instead, you can discover where your strengths and interests lie. 

That is why I wholeheartedly recommended Telekom to my daughter for her dual study program. To me, it is an environment where she can receive an excellent education, gain experience, try out different things, and find her own professional path.” 

Emilia, tell us how your father’s experience influenced your decision and where you consciously chose to follow your own path. 

“His stories gave me an early insight into the company and the different areas of work available there. I then did my own research and discovered the opportunities for university students and apprentices. I focused particularly on my own interests, and I am now completing my practical assignments in exactly the areas that suit me.” 

Why did you decide to pursue your degree at Telekom? 

“I chose Telekom because it offers a wide variety of fields and, as a result, many opportunities for professional and personal development. I particularly liked the fact that you can get to know different areas and find out which tasks suit you best and which ones you enjoy. Telekom also places great importance on fostering individual talents and giving everyone the opportunity to shape their own path. I was very impressed by the range of development prospects, which is why I applied.” 

What expectations did you have before you started, and which of them have been confirmed so far? 

“Before I started, I expected to develop not only professionally, but also personally. That expectation has been confirmed: everyone receives individual support, as well as additional development opportunities such as voluntary workshops or training courses. I find it valuable that personal development is promoted just as much as professional qualification.” 

Thorsten, was there a moment when you thought, “My daughter is in good hands here”? 

“It was not really one single moment, but rather the positive feeling that had developed throughout my time at Telekom. I know the company, the people, and the many opportunities available here. 

When my daughter started her dual study program at Telekom and I saw how she was welcomed and supported, and how quickly she began finding her own path, it became clear to me that the decision was the right one and that she was in good hands here. 

And as a father, it is of course a particularly wonderful feeling to see your own daughter begin her career at the same company where you yourself have enjoyed working for so many years.” 

What opportunities do you see for young people at Telekom? 

“I believe the greatest opportunity lies in Telekom’s incredible diversity. When young people begin their careers, they do not yet have to know where they want to be in ten or twenty years. They can explore different areas, try things out, and discover their own strengths and interests. 

I have experienced this myself over almost 30 years. My own path took me from Service to Corporate Customers and Finance, and increasingly into the world of data and reporting. There, I helped establish and further develop several major reporting solutions. Today, I am responsible for campaign reporting. 

My own journey shows the opportunities Telekom can offer. At the same time, you have to remain open to change. The market and the world of work are constantly evolving. Digitalization and AI are creating new requirements and opportunities. That is why it is important to stay curious, continue developing, and embrace new things.”
