How do we safeguard the digital lifelines of our society - today and in the future? Julia Wilbert, an employee of Telekom Technik GmbH, discussed this topic in a panel discussion with representatives from Siemens Energy, TÜV Nord, ABB, and Nordex.

Responsibility meets innovation

Critical infrastructure includes power grids, mobile networks, communication systems, and digital services - the things that keep our daily lives running. This is exactly where Julia Wilbert comes in.

In her role at Deutsche Telekom Technik GmbH within the “Mobile Service Development and Customized Customer Solutions” division, she focuses on customer requirements and the continuous improvement and optimization of processes. She combines 16 years of industry experience with technical expertise and a clear understanding of the interplay between innovation and stability.

Telekom Technik’s expertise was also put to use following the major power outage in Berlin in January, which affected approximately 45,000 households and more than 2,000 businesses in the southwest of the capital, leaving both mobile and landline networks down. Ten hours later, basic mobile service had been fully restored. Julia focuses on analyzing such situations and what lessons can be drawn from them for the future. These insights also provided important input for the panel discussion.

A fully connected life

It’s not always about life-threatening situations, like the power outage in Berlin. But during the panel discussion, it quickly becomes clear that we live in a completely connected world: streaming, gaming, remote work, smart devices - everything depends on stable networks. Among other things, Telekom ensures that these systems function securely and reliably - and takes on not only technological but also social responsibility.

Julia Wilbert sums it up this way: “It’s clear that we can only solve tomorrow’s challenges with diverse perspectives. That’s why it’s so important to inspire more women to pursue technical careers, create opportunities for growth, and promote true equality of opportunity.”

Working together for greater diversity in STEM

Curia e.V. is dedicated to supporting women in STEM fields and providing them with visibility and networking opportunities. A mission that Telekom also actively supports, including through its long-standing partnership with Femtec GmbH. The international career platform Femtec prepares women for (leadership) careers in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. Curia e.V. is closely affiliated with Femtec GmbH: The association was founded in 2008 by graduates of the Femtec Career-Building Program as “Femtec.Alumnae e.V.” and today, as Curia e.V., has around 1,000 members.
