Apply to Deutsche Telekom? Lara checked it out!
Lara has decided to do a dual study program at Deutsche Telekom and gives an insight into how she experienced the application process. From the online application to the best-fit interview to the business match, she gives hints and tips so that you can prepare for your application challenge in the best possible way.
At the beginning of my application process at Deutsche Telekom, I was quite nervous.
After all, it was about the start into the future! After all, I wanted to do everything right – fill out the forms correctly, comply with specifications, etc. I really drove myself crazy about it in advance...
Looking back, however, I can say that the whole process was totally transparent, fair and showed me again and again that it's not just about grades and CVs, but that everyone is genuinely interested in the person behind the facts.
The first step was the online application – super uncomplicated and done in a few minutes. All I had to do was search for the desired job advertisement, click on "Apply now", fill in the fields, upload documents, such as the CV, or certificates and that's it. I think that I was able to collect some plus points directly because I made and uploaded a short introduction video of myself. I thought it was cool and fun too.
A short time later, the invitation to the online test came. During this test, I was allowed to show a little bit of what I can do (Math’s, German, English, and so on), but I also got my first insights into the world of Telekom. Above all, the test serves to define the personality profile. It was exciting for me to get an overview of my strengths. The result hardly surprised me, but it is something else to get an objective assessment of how strongly certain interests are pronounced or which personality traits stand out.
Before the best-fit interview, I was very excited. My very first interview with my hopefully new employer! The excitement was taken away from me quickly, because I didn't have to "pass" a classic job interview. Rather, it was about finding out how well I and Telekom fit together. That gave me a lot of security and I quickly realized: It's about finding the best fit for both sides, both in the choice of apprenticeship or course of study and for the assignment in the company.
At the end of the conversation, the excitement rose again. I didn't know what would happen next. In the end, my excitement turned directly into joy, because I didn't get the commitment right away, but I was told that I had a very good chance of being there as a new junior employee from the next career start.
Fortunately, I didn't have to wait long, because the next morning I was accepted. I was offered various companies or areas where I could start. My task now was to think about which of these companies I liked best and to determine in turn which of these companies I would like to work in from the start of my career.
The last step was the Business Match – my highlight in the process. Here I was able to get to know my future team directly. This gave me the opportunity to ask questions and get to know my future colleagues even before I started my studies. Looking back, that helped me incredibly, especially on my first day. I wasn't deeply relaxed, but I was much less excited.
Today, looking back, I am grateful for this experience. The application process showed me that Deutsche Telekom is not only looking for young talent but also wants to give people real prospects.
My tip to all those who apply: Just stay yourself! Take every opportunity to ask questions and see the process as an opportunity to get to know Deutsche Telekom in the same way as vice versa.
