FEMTEC's next chapter | Telekom Careers Blog
FEMTEC launches with a new supporting organization - and we’re part of it
Good news for female STEM students: FEMTEC is moving into the future with a new supporting organization - and Deutsche Telekom remains on board as a strong partner. For many years, we have supported talented young professionals on their journey into the working world and are excited to continue shaping this path in the future. A change of the supporting organization is now underway - the program will become more digital, while the Femtec spirit remains the same.
FEMTEC founders built a lasting foundation
Our thanks go to EAF Berlin and TU Berlin. With their visionary founding of Femtec GmbH, they built a lasting foundation and paved the way for countless STEM careers.
Why is the program so important to us?
We are delighted that FEMTEC will now continue and evolve under the umbrella of Kompetenzzentrum Technik-Diversity-Chancengleichheit e. V. (kompetenzz), together with strong partners from academia and industry. For us, our commitment to FEMTEC is an important building block in encouraging more women to pursue STEM careers and increasing the representation of women in our key technological growth areas.
As a partner company, we also want to continue giving female students early insights into professional practice, corporate culture, and possible career paths in STEM fields. Diverse teams are a key success factor for innovation and sustainable development. Since the launch of the program, participants from 180 countries have taken part, and the international character of the Career Building Program makes it particularly valuable for a global company like Deutsche Telekom.
A strong new home for the FEMTEC Career Building Program
Deutsche Telekom is a founding member of kompetenzz e. V. and is therefore building on 25 years of trusted collaboration. kompetenzz is Germany’s leading non-profit network dedicated to promoting equal opportunities and diversity in business and society. Its governing bodies include representatives from companies, universities, and federal ministries. The organization is responsible for nationwide initiatives such as Girls' Day, Boys' Day, Zukunftswerkstatt Kommunen, and Klischeefrei.
Shaping the future together with STEM scholarship holders
FEMTEC, the international career platform for women in STEM, will continue preparing women for leadership careers in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. In the past, 100 female STEM students completed the 18-month Career Building Program every year. Many scholarship holders then took advantage of the excellent entry and development opportunities at Deutsche Telekom — from internships to trainee positions.
With this new direction, the mission remains clear: empowering female STEM students, creating opportunities, fostering connections, and making career paths in academia, business, and society more visible. We look forward to meeting the next generation of STEM talent and shaping the future together.
