Curious, open, courageous

For Tejal, one thing was clear: she wanted to gain international experience. In India, she wasn’t familiar with trainee programs – but in Germany, she discovered Telekom’s Start up! program.
“I chose Telekom because it’s an international company, and the trainee program is very structured and diverse,” she explains. What appealed to her most was the flexibility: trying out new roles, and building a professional network.

Insights into different teams

The Start up! program includes five departmental rotations – one of them optionally abroad. For Tejal, working in the Cloud Services Team at T-Systems was especially exciting. There, she worked directly with senior leaders and took on responsibility for strategic projects.

Magenta Friday and a strong community

With more than 50 participants each year, the trainee community offers strong connections and mutual support. One highlight is Magenta Friday – a full day each week dedicated to personal development, featuring workshops, guest lectures, and interactive sessions. It’s the perfect opportunity to gain new perspectives and make valuable connections.

Open to mistakes and teamwork

Tejal was also impressed by Telekom’s open approach to mistakes.
“You’re allowed to try things out and make mistakes – that was new to me,” she says.
She especially enjoys collaborating with teams from different cultures, realizing that communication and teamwork matter more than perfect language skills.

Tips for international applicants

Her advice to others: Be brave, approach people openly, learn German, and show your personality.
Telekom operates internationally, recruits talent from all over the world, and values curiosity, responsibility, and team spirit.

Conclusion

Tejal’s story shows that entering the German tech world is possible – with curiosity, resilience, and openness. Anyone eager for international projects, personal growth, and a strong community will find the perfect start in Telekom’s Start up! trainee program.
